Middlebrook Confidentiality places a duty on clergy not to disclose information shared with them in private. Confidentiality is also the ethical and often legal responsibility to safeguard congregation members from unauthorized disclosures of information given in the context of a confidential pastor-parishioner relationship. Historically, pastors have had only a moral obligation to maintain the confidentiality of information given to them by congregation members. In recent years, however, people have brought an increased number of lawsuits against pastors for invasion of privacy and other tort claims arising out of the disclosure of confidential information by a pastor or other church official. The result of these suits has brought recognition that the obligation to maintain confidentiality is not only a moral obligation, but also often a legal one. This article will focus on pastoral confidentiality as it applies in a variety of church settings. This means we have no special duty or requirement to protect the other person or warn him if he is about to engage in conduct that is unwise or not in his best interests. In certain situations, however, the law does require a higher standard of conduct. We refer to such situations as having a fiduciary duty. Officers and directors of a corporation, including a nonprofit corporation such as a church or ministry, also owe a fiduciary duty to that corporation.

Bauwens never wrote the email asking for the iTunes Gift Cards. It was a scammer. But why is it an iTunes Gift Card scam instead of something else, like actual cash? The reason why scammers ask for iTunes Gift Cards is simple: The codes are hard to trace — and once they have it they can resell to get money. They use a variety of ways to coerce money out of victims: Either way, that money is gone.
Print I have the opportunity to be in many churches. In that regard, I am observer of people. When I enter a worship service, I do a quick scan of those attending. I don’t know but I suspect there is a reason why the establishment stooges in the press and media spin him merely as “law enforcement. Most judges, having gained a different and more objective and neutral perspective would be tempted to disagree except as to many prosecutors. The name Independent Fundamental Baptist Church is used traditionally by churches which pattern themselves strictly after the example of the early church as found in the New Testament. Today the name Baptist is used by many churches who are not truly following the teachings of the New Testament.
