Relationships and Dating in the Bible Does the Bible say anything about dating? No, but it does describe relationships. If “dating” is defined as two single friends of the opposite sex doing things together for fun without any attraction or romantic desire or intimacy involved at all, there is no issue to discuss regarding dating. They are spending time as friends. The Bible describes and gives directions concerning friendship. But for most, the issue of dating involves “romantic attraction and desire. Also, in our culture, through “dating” people will often find a life partner and marry.

Examination is a process to determine the nature or condition, it is also a way to test the knowledge or proficiency. So if we examine ourselves, we would like to determine the condition of our faith, we try to prove ourselves to know if we are still in alignment with God and His will. We ask the question, are we walking worthy of our calling? But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Reverend of Relationship Picture this: If you ask your average American, that person will likely describe this man as a black man, which points out the stereotype that African Americans face when it comes to relationships. Now picture a couple that has been happily married for 20 years, with two children both conceived after marriage.
Most of us would rank healthy relationships high on the list. Except for knowing Christ and having eternal life, healthy relationships make life enjoyable perhaps more than anything else. Even if your health isn’t the best, if you have loving relationships, you can enjoy life.
This happened to me the other night. A dear friend and I were talking about our kids and how to help them transition from children to adults. The topic of dating and relationships came up and we started talking about my story. It somehow validates my belief that some of the teachings I grew up with were very wrong. Fear of loving and losing. Fear of making the wrong choice. Fear of getting hurt. Fear of being damaged. Fear of not measuring up.

The Top Five Myths of Christian Dating. Bonhoeffer addresses this issue in a wedding sermon he wrote for his sister from a Nazi jail cell. goal of a man and woman’s relationship, they are.
Most people believe people can change in a general sense, but then they have the certain people in their life or themselves and it seems impossible. If you get in a fight with somebody, and nothing ever changes, reconciliation is hard, maybe even impossible. But when there are changes, the most amazing things happen. I like the story of when railroads were first introduced to the U.
As you may know, Mr. President, ‘railroad’ carriages are pulled at the enormous speed of 15 miles per hour by ‘engines’ which, in addition to endangering life and limb of passengers, roar and snort their way through the countryside, setting fire to crops, scaring the livestock and frightening women and children.
The Almighty certainly never intended that people should travel at such breakneck speed. I knew a man by the name of Jim VanDiest. I only knew him as a man filled with the Spirit that was a natural evangelist, a man that was passionate about others coming to know Christ, a man that wanted the focus of SACC to be first and foremost the importance of knowing Jesus Christ.

As I stumble through the awkward limbo of single, yet soon-to-be-married, I’ve tried to read every resource tagged within the “marriage,” “love,” and “relationships” genre. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Red flags started to rise. Still I pressed onward with hopes of encountering helpful gems of wisdom and Christian counsel over the next pages. After all, the author is the Evangelical pastor of the largest church in America.
I’ll start with the positive.
Godly relationships glorify God and demonstrate the reality of the gospel in our lives. We are flooded with supposedly Christian books telling you how to use God and the Bible to reach your full potential, to boost your self-esteem, to achieve your best life now, etc.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. This is no accident, but one of the many casualties of creating c 3 tax exempt status for churches under the I. In their greed and insecurity and idolatry towards government, churches that have taken advantage of this status and had it recognized by the IRS have basically substituted the headship of Christ over their church for the headship of government.
This is analyzed in sermon 6. Pastors and their flocks in present American Christianity are taught the lie that “government is good”, when in fact, our political history proves the opposite. The Bible, on the other hand, refers to government as “the Beast” in Rev. Churches who have bowed down to worship Caesar in violation of the Bible have basically become incorporated businesses in partnership with the government as franchise contractors.
Subtitle A of the Internal Revenue Code is the franchise contract , and it obligates no one to do anything unless they consent to become “taxpayers” by engaging in excise taxable activities. The result is that most Americans and the churches they attend have become what the Soviets call “Useful Idiots” to tyrants and dictators. Churches have simply become MUCH too cozy with the government Beast, and fail to realize that in fact, Church and State have historically been competitors for the affections, worship, and obedience of the people until only very recently.
Congressman Ron Paul also explains this dichotomy in the article below:

One kind of relationship the Bible describes is friendship.
Proverbs gives several characteristics of friends and friendships. Friendship involves three foundational elements, commitment to fulfill the responsibility of a friend, care and concern for the welfare of your friend, and affection.

We all enjoy receiving gifts at Christmas. But the greatest gifts we can receive are not from rich uncles, but from God. He made us; He alone knows what we all need most. As a loving God, He is ready to give us the best gifts. But He does not give His gifts indiscriminately. Both in the Bible and in our experience we see that some receive the blessings God offers while others go away with nothing. We would do well, therefore, to understand clearly how to receive from God so that we are not among those who miss out on the best gift of all.
What a great thing to know, that future generations would count you blessed because God has done great things for you! In an earlier study of Luke, I covered the whole song. This is a basic spiritual principle that runs throughout Scripture.
